NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority, dedicated to saving and improving lives through the wide range of services they provide to the NHS.
One of the services that they offer in the UK is mobile blood donation which is done through their fleet of bloodmobiles. The bloodmobiles are purpose built 3 bed mobile donation clinics, with all required amenities on board to make them self-sufficient, including a generator.
When a vehicle reaches the end of its operational life they are donated to third world countries (including St. Lucia, Kenya, Grenada and Uganda) in the hope that they will go onto help save lives, as they have done through their life in the UK.
The NHSBT reached out to William Kirk as they needed somewhere to act as a hub for the vehicles before their onward transportation, and Carl and the team were only happy to help.
In total William Kirk have stored 8 vehicles utilising surplus space on site, of which 4 have been shipped, and dates have been arranged for the final 4.
This has been a great initiative to support and the team at William Kirk hope to be able to support them in the future.
